Black Sheep Utilities – Brighton Pride Celebration 2021
On Friday the Black Sheep flock held their annual celebration in the office!
Although the main Pride event was postponed again this year, we dressed the rainbow and had some rather scrummy rainbow cakes with cocktails at lunch!

Brighton Comedy Garden – Taking The Flock Out To Pastures New!
July 14 2021
We took the Black Sheep Utilities flock out to Brighton Comedy Garden on Wednesday to see Ivo Graham, Russell Howard, and David O’Doherty compered by the wonderful Angela Barnes.
Social distancing, mask-wearing, and one-way systems were all firmly in place but it was wonderful to get out and about with the flock in pastures new for some fun team comedy entertainment.
We all had a fabulous time and are looking forward to our next outing soon.

Worlds End Pub
At Black Sheep we decided to run a company-wide competition for an early finish Friday. Staff were allowed to leave the office at 3 pm and head to The World’s End. The World’s End is a pub a short distance from our Brighton office and isn’t your average pub. It provides its customers with not only a great atmosphere but with virtual reality booths for up to 4 people, an escape room, a remote control racetrack, retro arcade games, board games, and the Wolfsmouth burger kitchen!
Black Sheep provided the staff with drinks vouchers, food, and the virtual reality experience. With so much to do in one venue along with the great food by Wolfsmouth, it was a worthwhile incentive for the entire company to enjoy their Friday afternoon out of the office.

Our Annual Halloween Celebration Inventive!
Here at Black Sheep, we take Halloween very seriously. Not only does the whole office dress up we also run fun Trick or Treat games throughout the day! This year we had unicorn fishing, doughnut-eating, and a hoop the octopus game, all of which gave our Flock members the opportunity to accumulate points in order to win some really great prizes!
We also ran a fancy dress competition, where we crowned our winner, Sales Manager Yasmin Fletcher! She really went all out to become a scary clown – wig, make-up, dress, and balloon included! She won a £100 Love2Shop voucher. A massive well done Yas and to everyone else that made the brilliant effort to dress up!

Early Finish Friday - Sailing Trip to The Isle of Wight & Escape Room
This month’s Black Sheep Early Finish Friday was split into two groups a sailing trip to the Isle of Wight for lunch, and two games at Pier Pressure Escape Rooms in Brighton with beers to follow. We hope that you had a great time, it’s very well deserved!
“I was a little unsure of how I’d get on with sailing, luckily though, I was like a duck to water! I loved it, with the wind blowing in my hair, I really felt like I’d found my calling. The lunch on the Isle of Wight was delicious and so fresh! The garlic bread was my favourite part with the fragrant sprigs of rosemary on top. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire day and was really pleased to have been invited along.”

Early Finish Friday - Sports Day on Hove Lawns
As a team building exercise the admin side of the office decided to run a sports day themed gathering after work one Friday on Hove Lawns. They were treated to booze and food to keep them fuelled throughout the games.
Everyone that took part has given really positive feedback saying they really enjoyed soaking up the last of the Summer sun, having a few drinks and relaxing after a hard weeks work. However everyone did seem to be aching a little still on Monday morning from playing rounders, badminton and stuck in the mud!
After the games there was quite a lot of food left over so we donated the rest of it to a group of homeless people camping near by. They were very grateful for the donations and said they’d take it with them to their meeting point and share it will all of their friends. What a great success!

This month’s Black Sheep Utilities early Friday finish was beach volleyball and beers! We hope that you enjoyed playing volleyball in the last of the Summer sun!

Brighton Pride with The Flock
Well done to everyone that took part in the Pride celebrations on Friday 2nd of July. As a company Black Sheep are really proud to be a diverse employer and Pride is a great opportunity to celebrate everyone that works for us!
We sold slices of our custom made cake for the occasion, a delicious half chocolate, half vanilla rainbow cake! Accompanied by our brightly coloured, very sweet, rainbow vodka and lemonade.
The star of the show was Mitchell Scott for dressing as his sassy alter-ego Black Sambuca aka Sammy B. She looked amazing!
In total we raised £75 through our cake and vodka sales, all of which will be donated to The Brighton Rainbow Fund, a local charity who are heavily connected to the Pride festival, with their focus being on giving support to LGBTQ issues within the community. Thank you to everyone who was involved and to anyone who made a donation on the day.

We took our Top Performers of the Year to Ibiza!
At our company festival (Rod Fest) last year 16 of the company’s top performers received prizes to congratulate them on their amazing efforts for the company. To thank them for all of their hard work we decided to take them away on an all expenses paid holiday to Ibiza! As there was so many of them we’ve had to split the group in two and send the parties out at different times, half in July and half in September.
These are some of the great pictures and videos they took while they were out there.
During their four days away they not only flew business class there and back but they also had lots to do when they were out there, all paid for by Black Sheep! They went to great restaurants, stayed in Ushuaia (one of the best hotels on the island), enjoyed a private boat trip for the day and also attended a club night at Ushuaia with a VIP table and everything.

Pimm’s with Strawberries & Cream
To celebrate Wimbledon we’ve been running a two week Wimbledon themed incentive for the whole Black Sheep Flock! With daily tennis-themed games and boozy prizes, the teams have really been motivated to beat their targets, which is fantastic to see. We’ve also been streaming the tennis live every day to keep the team in the loop with the tennis scores and also to keep the atmosphere in the office alive!
In addition to this, we’ve been selling cups of Pimm’s and pots of strawberries and cream on Friday afternoons. All of the funds raised are being donated to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

Wakeboarding at Hove Lagoon
Our top performers were all pushed outside of there comfort zones during this months incentive. Black Sheep went wakeboarding! The weather was great and everyone seemed to enjoyed doing something a little bit different.
Following on from the wakeboarding, Hove Lagoon hosted a BBQ for us with free burgers and beers available for the whole team! We were really pleased to see people using the incentive as an opportunity to get to know the newer Flock members especially as the company is growing so rapidly. A massive well done to everyone that qualified!

Westlife at Wembely!
As an additional incentive this month we ran a week-long incentive for the whole of Black Sheep. The members of The Flock that beat their targets all got to go and see Westlife in a private box at Wembley stadium! All expenses paid of course.
Everyone had a great time singing along to all of their well-known songs, and were treated to a meal in the box too, with all drinks being paid for as well! Well done everyone!

For this month’s incentive, we chose to keep it simple! Joe took our top performers for burgers and beers. A very posh burger and a beer at that.
Everyone was treated to lunch at Bison in Brighton town centre with beers to follow at the newly renovated Seven Stars. Not only this but after everyone else had finished in the office, Joe invited everyone down to the pub at 4 o’clock to join them!

This month’s incentive was escape rooms at Pier Pressure which is just a few doors down from our office! We sent a group of Flock members that had been recognised by management for working to an OUTSTANDING ability and building our company values daily, striving to evolve, work more intelligently and invest in, not only the members of the Black Sheep Flock but our customers and suppliers too!
Pier Pressure was not only fun and challenging, it was a great opportunity for everyone to work on their team-building skills and to get to know each other a little better, in a less serious environment.

This month’s incentive was Globalls and bowling, which was a great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other a little bit better, especially as our numbers are rapidly expanding! Everyone that went got stuck in and it was good to see that people were mingling outside of their friendship groups and really making the new Black Sheep Flock members feel involved and part of the team.

Our February Incentive
We like to keep things fun and interesting in the Black Sheep office so every month we run an incentive to keep morale up and to add some healthy competition to the sales teams.
This month’s incentive had a Valentines day theme. We split the office into 6 teams to compete against each other within their departments. Every time someone beat their target, they’d be able to ‘shoot’ (metaphorically on a board) a member from the opposing team. The top performers from the teams with the most members still ‘alive’ at the end of each day would then have the opportunity to win all sorts of great Valentines day themed prizes!

OUR SUPERSTAR PRIZE
Although we were giving out really good prizes every day to our top performers, we also wanted to reward a member of the Flock for being positive, going over and above for the company, but most of all displaying our core values throughout the entire two week incentive. Over the two week period the managers nominated members of the teams that they thought had met the criteria. We then put their names into a hat and pulled our winner.

We hope you enjoy your nights stay at the Hotel du Vin in Brighton! Our other nominees didn’t go home empty handed, they were all awarded with a bottle of prosecco to say a massive thank you for all of their efforts!
