MHHS Risk Diagnostic

Is Your Business Ready for MHHS? Discover Your True Energy Profile Risk.

The Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) is fundamentally changing how commercial energy is priced in the UK—use our live diagnostic tool below to gauge your exposure.

How Our MHHS Diagnostic Tool Works

A 3-Stage Path from Industry Averages to Actual Half-Hourly Reality

Most commercial electricity meters in the UK are currently billed on generic industry averages. As the Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) rolls out across the UK over the next 12 months, every business will transition to actual half-hourly tracking. Our tool guides you through 3 distinct diagnostic stages:

1

Stage 1: Sector & Operational Profiling

Enter your postcode, select your business sector (Office, Hospitality, or Manufacturing), set your typical operating hours, and factor in any Solar PV generation. This creates an immediate, highly tailored baseline shape estimate.

2

Stage 2: Meter Class Refinement

Enter your MPAN / Meter Number. Our system identifies your exact Meter Class (e.g. Profile Class 03 or 04) and maps Elexon Market Domain Data (MDD) curves specific to your meter type, refining your estimated Shape Premium risk score.

3

Stage 3: Meter Information Authorisation (The EAC Step)

An industry curve is still an average. By submitting a brief Meter Information Letter of Authority (EAC), you authorise us to retrieve your actual 365-day half-hourly meter consumption data as it becomes available under MHHS—unlocking true, bespoke market strategies.

Score Evaluation

Interpreting Your Score: The Profile Class Arbitrage

Right now, many suppliers price commercial energy using generic industry averages (Profile Classes)—even for businesses that already have Half-Hourly capable meters fitted.

As MHHS forces the market toward granular data, a gap is expected to open between suppliers who aggressively price on actual half-hourly shapes and those who remain on generic curves. Once your actual meter data has been retrieved and verified, we map your true consumption against supplier curves to explore two key market strategies:

High Score (Low Risk)

The Subsidiser

If your actual usage is flatter and more off-peak than the industry average, you may currently be overpaying on generic tariffs to cover peak-heavy businesses.

Strategic Opportunity (Profile Reclassification): We use your actual HH data to help prove your low-risk profile to the market, aiming to position your business for bespoke or discounted rates as and when dynamic tariff structures become available.

Low Score (High Risk)

The Subsidised

If your actual usage is heavily concentrated during regional peak hours (Red/Amber zones), generic industry averages are currently shielding you from the true cost of your grid impact.

Strategic Opportunity (Market Shielding): As suppliers begin applying dynamic shape pricing, peak rates could rise. We endeavour to identify suppliers who may be slower to transition away from generic curves or who offer protected structures, helping shield your business from peak-hour penalties for as long as possible.

Verification Workflow

What Happens When You Submit Your Meter Information (EAC)?

Secure Verification & Direct Delivery

The score generated in Stages 1 and 2 provides an immediate estimate based on Elexon profile class averages. To conduct a full analysis on your actual meter data, we follow a strict verification protocol:

1

Security & Organisation Ownership Audit

To protect sensitive business data, every request undergoes an internal audit. Requests submitted with a matching company email domain (e.g. name@yourcompany.co.uk) are verified directly. If a request is submitted using a non-corporate webmail address (such as Hotmail or Gmail), our team will contact you to request proof of ID or authority to act on behalf of the business.

2

Data Analysis

Once verified, our systems query the national network for your available 365-day half-hourly dataset (or queue your meter for automated ingestion as soon as your MHHS data goes live over the next 12 months).

3

Direct Email Delivery

Your comprehensive, bespoke MHHS Risk Report will be generated and emailed directly to your verified decision-maker (a dedicated online client portal is also currently under active development).
