British Gas Lite does not have a customer phone line. British Gas describes Lite as an online-only product for small businesses, and says Lite customers can only web chat with it, 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. If you would rather speak to a person, Black Sheep Utilities has a phone line and can deal with British Gas Lite for you.
How do British Gas Lite customers contact British Gas?
According to British Gas’s own website, British Gas Lite is a fixed-price, online-only product designed with small business customers in mind. There is a dedicated web chat team for Lite customers, open 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and the account itself is run online: Lite customers manage their account, view and pay bills and use live chat from their online account. The British Gas Lite contact page lists emergency numbers for gas and electrical emergencies, but no general customer service phone line.
For a simple question, such as sending a meter reading, that can work well. It is harder going when a problem needs following through over several conversations: an estimated bill that has drifted from real use, a reading that has not been accepted, or a renewal that has passed without a new price being agreed.
You can read more about the supplier itself on our British Gas Lite profile.
What can Black Sheep Utilities do about a British Gas Lite problem?
We can take the problem on and deal with British Gas Lite for you. Black Sheep Utilities is a business energy and water broker in Brighton, and handling supplier queries for our customers is a large part of the job. With a Letter of Authority in place, a short signed document that authorises us to speak to the supplier about your account and act for you, we can raise the query, supply the evidence the supplier needs and keep chasing until it is resolved.
That covers meter readings and estimated bills, billing errors, supplies transferred in error, and contracts that have rolled onto out-of-contract or deemed rates. You deal with one person at Black Sheep Utilities rather than starting again in a new chat each time.
While we are looking at your account, we can also check whether a better contract is available for your business electricity or gas. Lite is a fixed-price product, so the end of a fixed term is a natural point to compare.
How do I get started?
If you are already a Black Sheep Utilities customer, call us on 01273 914000. We already have your details and can normally start straight away.
If you are not yet a customer, tell us what’s happening. We need your company name, contact details, the meter and site information, which supplier you are with (British Gas Lite) and what the issue is. We then send you our Meter Information Form and, once a Letter of Authority is signed, contact British Gas Lite on your behalf.
Frequently asked questions
Does British Gas Lite have a phone number?
British Gas Lite does not list a customer service phone line. British Gas says that, as Lite is an online-only product, customers can only web chat with it, 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Emergency numbers are listed separately for gas and electrical emergencies. If you want a person on the phone to handle a billing or account problem, Black Sheep Utilities can do that for you.
Can a broker deal with British Gas Lite for me?
Yes. With a signed Letter of Authority, we can contact British Gas Lite about your account on your behalf, raise the query and follow it through. Existing customers can call us on 01273 914000; anyone else can tell us what’s happening.
Is British Gas Lite the same as a British Gas business account?
No. British Gas lists different contact options for its standard business energy customers, who can use web chat or speak to an adviser, 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Lite is the online-only product. Our British Gas page covers standard business accounts.
If British Gas Lite is taking up more of your time than it should, talk to the Black Sheep Utilities team and let us deal with it.
