Need help with Opus Energy? Talk to us

Opus Energy no longer supplies business customers: its website says it is permanently closed and no longer responding to enquiries. Its small and medium business meter points were sold to EDF Energy Customers Limited in 2024 and, for the remainder, to Pozitive Energy in 2025, so a former Opus small business customer is now dealing with one of those suppliers. Black Sheep Utilities can find out which, and deal with it for you.

What happened to Opus Energy?

Opus Energy was bought by Drax in 2017. In June 2024, Drax agreed to sell around 90,000 Opus Energy small and medium business customer meter points to EDF Energy Customers Limited. Drax’s results for the first half of 2025 say the sale of the majority of Opus Energy’s meter points completed in September 2024, and that the remaining meter points were sold to Pozitive Energy Limited, completing in May 2025.

PE Solutions, the name Pozitive Energy now trades under, says Opus Energy customer contracts transferred to it with Ofgem’s approval from 1 May 2025. The company itself, Opus Energy Limited, is still listed as active at Companies House, with its registered office at Drax Power Station in Selby. You can read more of the history on our Opus Energy supplier profile.

Who supplies my business now if I was with Opus Energy?

It depends on which group your meters were in. Most former Opus small and medium business meter points moved to EDF, and the rest moved to Pozitive Energy. Drax also says that, over the years since 2017, certain other customers acquired with Opus were transferred to its own business, Drax Energy Solutions. The name on your latest bill is the quickest clue, and we can check each meter for you.

If you are now with Pozitive Energy, our Pozitive Energy page explains what PE Solutions says changed for former Opus customers, including the move of deemed, variable and out-of-contract accounts to its standard rates. You can also read about the other two on our EDF and Drax supplier profiles.

A transfer of this kind is when loose ends appear: a final Opus bill that does not line up with the new supplier’s first bill, a credit balance still waiting to move across, or a business now on standard rates without having agreed a new price.

How can Black Sheep Utilities help former Opus Energy customers?

We work out who supplies each of your meters now and deal with that supplier for you. Black Sheep Utilities is a business energy and water broker in Brighton, with a phone line and real people. With a Letter of Authority, a short signed document that authorises us to speak to the supplier about your account and act on your behalf, we can raise the query, provide the evidence and follow it through.

If a transfer has left you on standard or out-of-contract rates, we can also compare the market for your business electricity and business gas and arrange a better contract while the problem is being sorted out.

How do I get started?

Existing Black Sheep Utilities customers can call us on 01273 914000. We already have your details and can normally help straight away.

If you are not yet a customer, tell us what’s happening. We need your company name, contact details, the meter and site information, which supplier you think you are with (Opus Energy is fine if unsure) and what the issue is. We then send you our Meter Information Form and, once a Letter of Authority is signed, contact the right supplier on your behalf.
